After this fangirl fanned herself down from the sudden heat, I knew it was high time to release a Got Forwood Spoiler Whore edition for Season Three. Read on at your own risk if you want to stay unspoiled!

Michael Trevino recently tweeted a picture of an Oreo cookie wrapped inside a chocolate chip cookie covering, which just made me think SUGARRRR I need it.
Vampire Diaries is my TV sugar high. I kind of love it like I love insanely large cookies. Covered in rainbow sprinkles. Trotted in by unicorns. Unicorns with special rainbow and glitter powers.
Even though I know I’m bound to experience a sugar crash (i.e. hiatus or HELLatus), I still keep going back for more.
Luckily, hiatus is almost over, and we will be repaid with shirtless Salvatores and Trevino!Ass, ahem, mind-bending storylines and gasp-inducing plots, soon enough.
I’ve already done a Vampire Diaries season three wishlist, so this will be more a chance to squee and rant about spoilers and speculate based on the figments of facts we’ve been given. Plus, you get to vote what you think will happen based on what we know. This way you can smugly say “I totes called it!” when something you think will happen comes to pass, or laugh derisively at your own idiocy. To be honest, I have rarely been able to 100% accurately predict what will happen on TVD, so half the fun of watching an episode is going back and seeing what the hell I thought would happen.

Okay, let’s get into it!
So, unless you’ve been hiding out in the Team Ripper cave with Klaus and Stefan, you probably know that season three will kick off at Elena’s 18th birthday party, thus allowing the writers to neatly sidestep the whole, “who will be Elena and Jeremy’s guardian since they are minors whose Aunt was totally staked after being a bb vvamp for like a day” thing (boy would social services have a field day with that one in real life… you know, if supernatural creatures were real)
Caroline, our loveable control freak with a knack for event coordination, will apparently be trying to get back to her human, super-planner identity early in season three, more than likely starting with Elena’s birthday. In a short clip with E!Online from the Comic Con, Candice Accola said that her bb vamp alterego would be trying to reclaim some sense of normalcy and go back to her s1 perky party planning self… though of course how often does everything stay normal in Mystic Falls?
Based on the new promo, where Caroline is gently encouraging Elena to move on from waiting for Stefan (though is two months of pining letting your life pass you by, really?? Those crazy writers and their crazy timelines!), I think the party planning is also simply her way of helping out a friend. This is, after all, the girl who tried to get Bonnie and Elena, plus Matt and Tyler, to talk again when these friendships went through a rough patch, the girl who cheerleaded Bonnie/Jeremy despite her own relationship woes at the time, the girl who stayed with Tyler during his first transformation… a girl who is an amazing friend.
Caroline will also be fresh from a summer of friendship with werewolf pal Tyler. We’ve been practically battered over the head with the fact that friendship will remain the bottom line with these two in season three teaser interviews about TC. This has made me sigh in relief because I don’t want their friendship to remain intact no matter what romantic entanglements that might experience.
“Tyler and Caroline are friends. Friends. Very important they’re friends” said Vampire Diaries Exec Producer Julie Plec.
Candice Accola also tweeted a photo of her set chair with Trevino’s, side-by-side, with the accompanying status: “oh hey there, friendship!’
Of course, this could be a nod to her real life friendship with Michael Trevino, but based on Accola’s interviews, she recognises how important it is that Caroline has a relationship with a guy where a sexual element was completely absent in the beginning.
Judging from the new extended season three promo, the “just friends” dance isn’t going to last that long though.
Here are a couple of quotes from Plec about the potential TC romance: “And then, of course, Caroline and Tyler, they have such wonderful chemistry, those two, and the characters have been through so much together. Tyler has been exposed to his core, and she’s been right there, you know, holding his hair back proverbially, and so we’ll see if that friendship lasts and how long it stays just friends. Because it’s kind of inevitable that there’s gonna be some naked action happening there eventually.”
“Caroline and Tyler are in that friends zone, and a very complicated friend zone,” says Plec. “There’s some pretty hot and heavy chemistry there. When we come back, we’ll see them in tht friend zone and we’ll see how long it takes before they explode out of that.”
According to a poster at Television Without Pity who works on the show (they give delicious spoilery snippets without giving the whole game away), there are at least three TC scenes in 3×01. There is one at the Mystic Falls square where Tyler/Caro run into each other when she is out shopping, one where they’re lunching at the Mystic Grill with Jeremy as their waiter (Yippee! The writers totally read my wishlist and knew that I desperately wanted Tyler/Caro/Jeremy scenes. Huzzah!), plus one at the Lockwood house.
This is not counting any little tidbits of interactions we get at Elena’s party, which as far as I can tell will be held at La Casa De Rich and Awesome (TM KJewls), also known by its less awesome moniker Salvatore Manor.
Trevino tweeted a complaint about a shirtless scene for him occurring after eating during a break, and the snippet of Caroline pouncing on half-naked Tyler does not disappoint in its awesomeness. Don’t worry Trevino, I can’t see any evidence of cookie intake from where I’m sitting in that promo shot of you and Caro.
Hey, you guys, I just realised this is the first time that we’ll see the inside of Tyler’s bedroom. Assuming you can peel your eyes off him for a sec, what are you expecting your reaction to be?
Jokes aside, I’m kinda curious to see if we get the full scope of his bedroom. You can tell a lot about a person’s personality and state of mind from their bedroom.
Now, before we speculate in full about the TC sex promo, and whether it is a dream or reality, let’s analyse/speculate the shizz about everything else we have heard about TC in the season three premiere.
If Caroline does all the party planning for Elena’s birthday, I’m wondering if she ropes Tyler into helping, with him getting a kick out of her control freak attention for detail where it would only annoy Matt.
Zap2It’s interview with Trevino at the Teen Choice Awards reveals that we’ll be revisiting that the side effects of being a bb supe, especially one navigating the world of teen dating. I love Cadlymack’s interviews with TVD cast, especially Trevino, she’s so cute about her approach and has great friendly chemistry with all of the cast.
Carina: So I wouldn’t ask this question to anyone I don’t know, but Julie said that Tyler is feeling very hormonal lately. I think the word was ‘horny.’
Trevino: Yeah, I mean, I think because he’s got this werewolf gene going on that he’s going to be snapping and he’s going to want some. And uh…you would think though that vampires have the same urges as well…so that could be interesting.
Like Vampire Barbies, for instance? 😉
Carina: We’re going to play a game.
Trevino: Aww, shit!
Carina: True or false? The sky is blue.
Trevino: True.
Carina: Water’s wet.

Carina: Tyler and Caroline make out in the season premiere.

Trevino is so great about slipping up about spoilers that Carina wasn’t too far off the mark, taking that approach there 😉
Plec also said in another interview that the physical side of being a young vampire and werewolf can be “a little overwhelming”, and one way that this will manifest is in supernaturally heightened hormones.
So, Tyler, who is never one to skirt an issue, apparently tells Caroline in one of their scenes that, “I’m horny all the time”. I kind of love this, aside from the obvious reasons, because it proves how much he thinks of her as a friend regardless of secret lupining – he feels comfortable enough to express what basically amounts to locker room talk. LOL at the doubters who worried Tyler would be whitewashed and start being the perfect!epic!boyfriend. He may have grown, but he’s still Tyler – and I adore that he isn’t trying to get Caroline to fall in love with an edited version of himself. He is just being who he is.
Even as ordinary human teens, Tyler and Caro have always had an insanely active libido. As Dogtown pointed out in TWoP, their strong sex drive has been canon on more than one occasion. Caroline was the one to encourage Matt, when alone in Matt’s house, to do something “bachelor-paddy”, she gleefully toasted her desire to get drunk enough to find someone hot to make out with at a Halloween party, and she said that she isn’t a fan of sport’s cars because it’s uncomfortable to hook up in them. Tyler, for his part, has had an aggressive sex drive to the point of attacking Vicki. Yes, his latent wolf gene explains this aggression in part, but I believe in the agency of every character over their supernatural urges. So, with ghost!Vicki back, I kind of hope there is some closure on the Tyler/Vicki relationship and character growth on Tyler’s part, with him apologising for the way that he treated Vicki.
I adore Tyler, you guys, but I will fully hold him accountable for everything that he has done, past and present. What makes me able to forgive him for the Vicki thing is that he is clearly repulsed by his darker side and doesn’t want to be that way. If he revelled in it, my opinion of him might be a little different. Plus, his the grey nature of his character is part of what makes him, and all TVD characters for that matter, interesting.
Anyway, I digress from my main point, which is that Tyler/Caro’s libido is going to be off-the-charts as bb supes, if their human desires, already strong, are amplified. I’m curious to see whether they embrace their desires or try to keep them under control.
It would be interesting to see Tyler try to rein his impulses in while Caroline gives into them, which I could see because Tyler’s arc for me has been about wanting control and hating losing it so completely when he transforms or shows other wolfy attributes. I could see Caroline giving in because, well, because she has eyes and ovaries.
I also wonder if Tyler’s eyes will glow golden like the Werewolf PMS he gets when he is ultra angry or upset, kind of like how vamps get all veiny when they’re turned on.
I for one would motherfucking love seeing Tyler glowing, Caroline veiny while getting it on, a combination of hot and freaky that would be fitting for a vampire/werewolf love scene.
Anyway, Dogtown, Gen, Cath, 12_12_12 and other members of fandom have been throwing around suggestions of what Caroline’s response to Tyler’s “I’m horny all the time” statement will be. (Dogtown is responsible for the two first absolutely genius possible responses!)
Which one of the choices below do you think are most likely?
I’m glad that they’ll be bonding over the weirdness of being a baby supe. I loved their first bonding session in season 2:
Caroline: This might sound weird, but alcohol helps. You know, with all the inside jittery stuff?
Tyler: I’m hot. It feels like my skin is on fire.
Caroline: Really? Never had any of that. Guess wolves are different. At the beginning, I was very very emotional. Everything was heightened.
Tyler: I have that. How can you be a vampire?
Caroline: How can you be a werewolf?
It would be awesome if we got more insight into the differences between being a bb werewolf and bb vampire as well as the similarities. Plus, when they get it on, I wonder if there will be mention of Caroline’s coolness compared to Tyler’s warmth, or similar stuff.
Now, one spoiler that had TC fandom up in arms was the emergence of a non-Vampire Barbie date for Tyler at Elena’s birthday party. With all the talk about supernatural hormones, I hereby anoint her Urges Girl, since I assume Tyler will try (and hopefully be unable to follow through) on using her to work out his hormone angst.
Tyler/Caroline are in a complicated friend zone, and not sure where the other stands exactly, and I could see Tyler thinking that he could go through with hooking up with another girl even if his heart isn’t in it.
You might think that Caroline should be able to pick up on Tyler’s feelings for her, but don’t forget that it is easy to be perceptive about other people’s relationships and not your own at times, plus she’s been insecure about her attractiveness to guys up until now. She may have written off The Kiss as a natural reaction to the intensity of the transformation, and though it meant nothing more to Tyler. This would be especially as Tyler presumably hasn’t made any other move since, because he is probably just still so happy she doesn’t hate him, realises her heart is mending post-Matt, and doesn’t want to rock the boat… not to mention that she rejected him (“we can’t go there, Tyler”) even before he confronted her about Mason and everything else went down.
Caroline knows by now how much Tyler values her as a friend and that he left only because he didn’t want to hurt her, not because he found her lacking in any way. But, she is still the girl who said in the pilot, “I’m never the one”, the girl who feels like everyone’s placeholder, and the girl who asked Matt “do you ever feel like there isn’t a single person in the world who loves you?” So, yeah, I can buy her obliviousness to Tyler being crazy, madly, deeply in love with her. Here is hoping that Jeremy, who is perceptive, picks up on the sparks between the pair or Tyler’s sexual tension-y alertedness around Caroline, and does his own little version of the patented Caro lookatyouscopingoutmyhottiewitchbff raised eyebrows. Oh, please writers, let Jeremy subtly needle and embarrass Tyler about this while he’s at the grill with Caro, I’ll heart you forever and ever!!!
Now, Urges Girl as an individual entity isn’t particularly interesting. I am insanely curious however to see how Tyler interacts with a female who is a similar age to him but isn’t Caroline.
I mean, we’ve seen his respect for women in general grow, shown in his respect for Jules and his mother. Although, he has always been a Mama’s boy, letting his mother’s judgment play a major role in his break up with Vicki, the dick/jerk scene, being there for her at the hospital – he adores her! And it makes sense he would latch onto Jules since she truly understood what it meant to be a werewolf, as one herself. So, how he treats Urges Girl is going to speak volumes about where he is at in terms of character growth.
There has been (completely justified) angst that Urges Girl will just be a prop to make Caroline jealous and have her “see the light” with Tyler and decide she wants to get it on, in a tired, clichéd plot development. I am fiercely hoping that Urges Girl won’t have any conscious effect on Caroline (subconscious jealousy is prob inevitable), but makes Tyler realise he is over the meaningless hook ups thing.
With all that out of the way, let’s deconstruct the fuck out of that split second of TC sex from the promo.
I like to think of Just Do Him Tyler from season one as foreshadowing for this momentous plot development.
Promo monkeys have hurt me badly before, with taunts of Kefan cave sex that turned out to be a compulsion dream. So, we’re taking it slow, with dinner and a movie, before I can trust them again enough to think that this TC sex is real without a massive flicker of doubt. Not that it matters. I endured three seasons of Sookie/Eric sex dreams, and let’s just say the payoff lately has been… outstanding… to say the least! *rues the fact TC sexytimes is not occurring on HBO*
So, the obvs question is: do you think the Tyler/Caroline action is a dream or a fake-out?
If it’s a dream, who do you think had the dream – Tyler being overwhelmed by his feelings for Caroline, or Caroline being confronted by her growing feelings for Tyler? If it is a dream, could it be the thing that kicks off the “I’m so horny” conversation? LOL I’m imagining Tyler being like, “I’m so horny all the time” and inwardly thinking “and PS I had a sexy dream about you last night”. Just imagine the awkwardness and Caroline wondering why he is acting so strange 😉
Now, let us convo about the implications of this scene if it is real *pleaseGodpleaseGod*
Dogtown raised the concern that the over-emphasis on the “friendship” theme might mean that TC might make a Friends With Benefits type pact.
Like he said, it would be pretty bad if that were the case, because the relationship would be inherently deceitful from Tyler’s end because he’s fallen for Caroline and it isn’t just about scratching an itch. Plus, he would avoid putting himself out there and admitting his feelings for Caroline, while still getting the physical side of things.
Caroline has been portrayed as a romantic with a love of movies like The Notebook and grand gestures, and though it’s been hinted she had hooked up with guys prior to Matt, I wonder if these hook ups were more about her abandonment issues that anything else if they’d occurred. But, as Dogtown pointed out, she’s also someone who can overcomplicate and overanalyse things that don’t need to be, while oversimplifying things that are actually more complicated than they can seem at face value. Like her statement, “Boy likes girl, girl likes boy… sex.” What about sex between friends who deeply care about each other, where one is secretly in love with the other, but the other isn’t quite there yet or aware of their feelings completely?
So, it wouldn’t be out of character IMO if Caroline initiated a FWB type scenario, though I doubt she would have the heart to through with it. If she did, the real test for Tyler, whose blood supply has usually flowed below his waist up until now, would be whether he went through with sex like that or not.
If it is a FWB, I would imagine that Tyler would stop midway through getting all hot and heavy. I was all worried about Caroline getting rejected after her past romantic history, but my friend Paloma came up with an awesome possible scenario if this does happen: Tyler tells her they need to take it slow because “she’s pretty incredible” and “he’s kinda fallen for her”!
Some peeps have suggested that Tyler is in pain and that Caroline is helping him out in the promo. Umm, guys, I can’t remember the last time I stripped down to lingerie to help out a hot male platonic friend. Just sayin’. The only thing she could be helping him out with is his urges, IMO. I DO think it is within the realms of possibilities for TC to be getting down and dirty, only to be interrupted mid action by some weird werewolf sex side effect.
Honestly, I think Tyler’s face just looks completely taken over by pent up sexual tension for Vampire Barbie finally being released. Your mileage might vary though.
It would be kind of cute if TC’s hormones just took them over completely, they have sex and then awkwardly skirt around each other in the aftermath for a little while. I could even see the “I’m so horny” conversation happening after said sex – they could hook up and then try to write it off as supe hormones because they’re both afraid of losing their friendship. Or as 12_12_12 pointed out, Caroline might just write it off as supernatural hormones and handwave the experience with Tyler, even walking him through some of the breathing exercises Stefan showed her ;), with Tyler following her lead despite there being much more on his side.
We’ve also gotten some broad scope for where TC will go for the rest of the season.
My money is actually on the sex scene being real. Not because of wishful thinking, but the meta reason that they’ll be kicking off the Romeo & Juliet arc of the Tyler/Caroline early in season three, and though it would work on a friendship level, I see the writers being more drawn to the romance of two lovers threatened with being torn apart by external and internal forces. Even if they do hook up in the first episode, it is bound to be a rocky road the entire time, and they will have moments of doubt themselves about whether they should be together.
According to Plec: When their mothers find out the truth about each of them, they’re gonna have a say in whether the two of them should be together. There’s always going to be push and pull in their friendship as it travels down a romantic road. There’s gonna be people who don’t want them together, including themselves. It’s that forbidden love: we can’t quite stay away from each other, and yet, we shouldn’t be together. And the question will be at what point will they act on that and how will that go?
The Romeo and Juliet (warring families, not double suicide I assume) angle has been played up, and it seems that Liz Forbes and Carol Lockwood will have thinky thoughts about their kids’ relationship.
Michael Trevino gave us this little tidbit: “I can say in the second episode, you’ll see more of the families. Both my mother and her mother are coming into play. It is a Romeo and Juliet type relationship.”
Tyler’s mother doesn’t yet know he is a werewolf, so this is bound to play a part in how she reacts to her son’s new friendship/romance.
Trevino: “She’s going to have her point of view, and he’s going to stick to his guns. But then you’ve got to realise that Tyler’s mom doesn’t realise that he’s a werewolf yet, so we have that whole aspect that’s probably going to be addressed in the beginning of the season.”
I am super, duper excited about the parental units having a major impact on the Tyler/Caro arc this season. Especially as Liz and Carol’s relationship, as established up until now, contrasts nicely with the vampire/werewolf, haves/have nots dynamic that has been drawn by the writers.
Oh Brady, you were so hot until you tortured Caroline and tried to eat Elena. Such a waste of pretty.
Vampires have typically been shown as the wealthy upperclassmen on the show, whereas the werewolves have been presented as comparatively lower class – compare the Salvatore mansion to the digs of Jules, Brady et al. The Lockwoods, a family with the werewolf gene running through it and the richest family in Mystic Falls, are the exception to this trend, which is partly why I think they have a stronger link to Elijah and Klaus’ bloodline than outlined so far. Liz, the Sheriff mother of a bb vampire, has social status due to her prestigious job, but this would not be matched by her income, plus she has the social shame of being dumped because her husband turned out to be gay hanging over her head.
So, I fully expect that Carol will express some form of snobbery towards Caroline that will reflect her overall attitude towards Liz. Once she gets over the shock of her son being a werewolf, I wouldn’t be surprised if she considered all vampires to be second class citizens, particularly as she WAS aware of the existence of vampires and her experience on the council has taught her that they are the enemy.
Couple this with the fact that Liz’s ability to keep the town safe has been called into question by Carol, acting as Mayor since her husband was killed, in season two.
In the aftermath of Uncle John unleashing the device that incapacitated vampires (and it turns out werewolves too), Damon and Liz had to do some damage control with Carol in the first episode of season two:
Carol Lockwood: I want to know exactly who’s responsible for killing my husband.
Sheriff Forbes: I’m looking into it but you have to be straight. Is there any reason Richard was affected by the vampire device?
Carol Lockwood: Are you implying that he was one of them?
Damon: No, no one’s implying that.
Carol Lockwood: Your deputies screwed up, plain and simple which makes you responsible.
Damon: Carol…
Sheriff Forbes: Your husband is the one who helped John Gilbert execute his idiot plan in the first place.
Damon: Liz…
Carol Lockwood: Someone got my husband killed.
Damon: We’re all in edge here. You’ve suffer a great loss, the whole town has. We have to stick together okay? Trust each other, we’re gonna get through this.
LOL at Damon acting as peacemaker. Carol was clearly disgusted at the thought that Liz was potentially implying her husband was a vampire, so I could easily see her prejudice carry over to the Tyler/Caroline relationship. She might justify that werewolves are only a threat once a month and therefore her son isn’t bad, but vamps are evil because they are the monster all the time. Though, as Oz would tell her, the werewolf is inside Tyler all the time.
Now, I can’t find the exact spoiler source, but apparently something is going to happen that will make it impossible for Carol/Liz to forgive each other or get along. Perhaps Liz gets upset when she finds out Tyler’s bite is fatal to Caroline. Maybe Tyler or Caroline accidentally hurts the other when taken over by a supernatural impulse.
Finally, like ripping off a bandaid, how about we just get the Caratt speculation over and done with in one fell swoop?
See the guy having torture visited on him? That is me whenever Caratt is mentioned. You know, annoying, painful, but there is a hot guy, like Jensen Ackles or Trevino, waiting in the wings.
Apparently, Matt isn’t done just yet done with his iceberg-ing ways for the TC ship.
That triangle is going to continue to play out between Tyler and Caroline and Matt, who is our only human [left standing]– who is now in the know, and so that’s going to get fun,” Williamson promised. “My best friend a werewolf. The girl that I love is a vampire, and where do I fit in all of this?”
There was also a statement along the lines of “Will Matt abandon Caroline forever/walk away from Caroline forever?” which really just sums up the sucker of their romance, doncha think?
My instant reaction to the triangle rearing its ugly head again was “What is this fuckery?!”
I’m just hoping this means that Matt’s history with both Tyler and Caroline will play a small part in their arcs, not that they will both pursuing Matt/Caroline anymore. Honestly, with TC romance, R&J stuff with the Council etc, I don’t really know how they could squeeze a proper Matt/Caroline reconciliation in and do all of the storylines justice. *fingerscrossed*
Zap2it had this little tidbit about Caroline/Matt: When we return, Matt and Caroline haven’t spoken to each other in quite a while, and their encounter at Elena’s 18th birthday party isn’t particularly… well, friendly.
Also, there was this exchange at the Comic Con panel:
Host: What’s in store for you and Tyler?
Ian: Puppies? A little vampire puppy, y’know?
Paul: It comes out looking like Michael Trevino.
Candice: Oh man! I don’t know. I mean, we’ll pick up season 3 episode 1, we’ll see if their friendship has blossomed. What do you guys think?
Host: That’s my next question, what about Matt?
Paul: What about Matt?
Candice: Matt dumped Caroline, what are you guys talking about? He dumped her!
I’m hoping that Caroline finally gets the chance to feel the anger the writers robbed her of when she discovered Matt’s betrayal of her with Liz, and tells him to GTFO of her life, whether because he is rude to her or comes crawling back trying to make amends. The thing is, Caroline is so pure of heart and was still pining for Matt when we left her that I really just see him spurning her because he is trying to avoid all things supernatural. She probably approaches him trying to extend an olive branch only to have it thrown back in her face, I think.
I love Candice’s indignance on Caroline’s behalf about Matt still being portrayed as a viable option at this point despite his absolute lack of follow-through and support for Caro. God, his golden boy image as conceived by the writers only extends so far, you know?

Lest we end on a Matt note, here is a liveblog of the first four chapters of the witty and cute TC fan fiction from my awesome friend Alyssa from I’m A Slayer Ask Me How blog. Click here to read the fic in full.
Chapter One
Happy as a vampire clam!

Chapter Two
Tyler sits in Biology class. Twilight flashback, don’t hurt me!
OMG Tyler has memorised Caroline’s classroom schedule. He is such a goner!
I LOVE that he calls her Forbes when he secret!texts her. Forbes just suits the tone of the friendship-as-equals TC have
Oooer, naughty text from Tyler, and Caroline sasses him back rather than being offended! Nakedness is such a theme of their relationship because of transformation them being weird about it would be OOC anyway.
Tyler sees Caroline and he’s suddenly glad he’s not wearing tight jeans. OMG ALYSSA I LOVE YOU! Also, I complain about girl stuff, but at least we don’t have to worry about ladyboners.
Caro hits him and it hurts. Ha! My inner feminist loves Caro being stronger.
Tyler rolls his eyes at her putting on Jersey Shore after school while they’re hanging out. I’m with Tyler on this one, Caro. Reality TV is not my cup of tea.
Caroline’s refreshment of choice? A nice pool boy to drain! LOL! Should we be concerned Damon’s drink!kink of choice is soccer mom?
Caroline’s looking at Tyler’s sketchbook – equivalent of reading his diary. Tyler!Rage because he obvs remembers Dawson doing the same to Joey. Unlike Dawson, Caroline had good intentions and apologises, and says she just wanted to see that side of him.
My Heart Will Go On plays faintly in the back of my head when Caroline mentions there are sketches of her in the book. I curse my steel trap of a mind when it comes to cheesy music, though like the association with a nude sketching scene. Prophetic?
“Tyler….thank you. Would you….would you draw more? Of me, I mean.” Ha! Actual line! I am so a walking crystal ball, aren’t I?
Sealed conversation with a sweet kiss and promises of more. Swoon.
Love this line: “Tyler Lockwood was in love, and for the first time in his life, he knew that no matter what happened between him and Caroline, who would come in and out of their lives that his heart would always belong to Caroline Forbes, and he would always hold onto that, and treasure it, even if all he ended up having left was a million sketches.” There’s always a touch of tragedy to this couple, because they face so many obstacles to making it work.
Chapter Three
Caroline zones out while in the cafeteria at school with Bonnie and Elena. Her girlfriends tease her about thinking about Tyler and Bonnie chants Caroline and Tyler sitting in a tree, B-I-T-I-N-G! I die from the cute. Aww, I love our babies who bite (TM TWoP) so much!
“Go to it girl” needs to be trademarked as a piece of advice to Caroline whenever Tyler is in the vicinity.
Tyler saying “I know, I was there” when Caroline says, “I kissed you!” is SUCH a Caroline thing to say.
Yippee! Tyler/Caroline full on kissage!
Excitement about Caroline finally feeling like a guy is fully into her, rather than being a placeholder.
Chapter Four
Caroline’s freakout over what to wear on a date with Tyler = LOVE: “There were clothes strewn all over the bed, and she was left wondering how someone who could cold clock a guy in two seconds was fretting about what to wear…on a date.”
Tyler was SO that guy who pulled the ponytail of girls he liked.
“… basically anything with the word ball in it, Tyler played.” My mind went to dirty places. Just sayin’ for the sake of full disclosure here 😉
Tyler giving Caroline roses and blindfolding her to take her to a secret romantic destination just makes me so eager to see Tyler awkwardly doing the relationship thing on Vampire Diaries in season three.
I kinda love that their first date is a trainwreck despite Tyler’s planning with a degree of control freakery to do Caroline proud. Tyler’s anger gets the better of him, but Caroline brings him back to himself – he’s angry guy, but at least he’s trying not to be that way. Also love the undercurrent of them wanting to be with each other even while acknowledging it’s never going to be easy, it might not even be possible in the long term.
Tyler drops the L word and I melt into a puddle of good.

Ok, I can’t say anything on this recap because, quite frankly I haven’t watched it, I simply jumped to the comment section. It is nothing personal Spidey, I swear its just that I still remember how misleading all these trailers and promos of TVD had been and therefore I don’t trust all the spoilers and articles for one second. I have still some hopes for the show but in my mind that had been very close to the final line with the end of season 2; just to many “you gotta be kidding me” moments and not of the positive sort. That and I decided to – so to say – take a hiatus from the official stuff. I am still doing fanfiction and betareading but from the official show I am keeping my distance until season 3 starts. I really hope that the show will focus more on the other members of the cast and get away from the main three, but my hope in that regard is not strong. 😦 Some off the stuff I had read regarding spoilers is already a bit ridiculous in my eyes and I just noticed a short time ago that when you take a more than casual look at the surrounding environment presented in the show you notice that more than a year has actually past and that is a kind of sloppy work I have problems to forgive. It is one thing if you decide against common sense to not run a teen-vampire show in real life time, but if you do you should at least let it look believable, so getting rid of a few dead leaves on the school ground shouldn’t be too much.
I hope by staying away from it until season 3 I will be able to look at it more cool-headed when it starts again.
So all I have left to say is, see ya until season 3. 😉

Hey Andre! I’ve been thoroughly entertainment by your takes on Teen Wolf on Julie’s blog – your knowledge about werewolf mythology never fails to astound me 😉
You know, I didn’t care too much about the timeline in Mystic Falls, until the writers basically laughed at fans who tried to keep track of the passage of time – it was just so patronising, especially since they are covering for lazy writing, plain and simple. The thing is, it would be nice to have more signposts about the passage of time, but Vampire Diaries is not the only show guilty of taking some logical leaps with time. True Blood’s first three season took place in a matter of a few months, as has the first season and a half of Pretty Little Liars. So although I am still annoyed with the writers for thinking that people with attention to detail like time are idiots, ultimately, it would drive me crazy to fixate on that and I’m just decided to come to terms with it and move on. If nothing else, Vampire Diaries is a very cracky show in many ways, and this just gives us another avenue for affectionate jabs at the show. I’d say just go for the ride when it comes to the timeline. At the end of the day, I care way more about character development.
I don’t necessarily need less emphasis on the main three, but a break from triangulation would be nice. I want Elena to either be with Damon or Stefan (when he comes back and presumably redeems himself) and that be it for a little while. Obviously, my preference is with Delena, but I’m just tired of romantic triangles on the show in general. I personally would rather see friendship or family-based triangles more. I think there is a lot of scope to explore the Damon/Stefan relationship with the Ripper!Stefan arc. Jeremy is being visited by the ghosts of girlfriends past, but I’m far more interested in the potential for friendships with Tyler and Caroline, bb supes who are also objective about the situation in a way bb supe Bonnie never can be. I’m even looking forward to Matt re-connecting with his dead sister Vicki.
Actually, Vicki really interests me. Here is the one character who is not an outright villain who detested Elena. There was a lot of pent up rage and jealousy in her “I won’t hesitate to rip off your head, you perky little bitch!” rant at Elena when she transitioned into a vampire in season one. I really, really hope they revisit this angle and look at Elena’s darker side, such as the commonalities she has with Katherine, like her ability to manipulate and seduce her way into getting what she wants, even albeit subconsciously a lot of the time (like her grasping Damon’s arm when asking him to be the better man).
So, I would say, don’t give up on Season Three just yet. I think there will be shippy stuff in the beginning, but there is talk of warring Council families, Original and Salvatore brotherly issues, plus all the stuff mentioned above. There is a lot of potential that I think will be tapped this season, just based on a lot of the spoilers I’ve read.
If nothing else, even when I’ve fallen out of love with a show, I still like debating about it… so I still think you should come here so that we can argue until we’re blue in the face when I recap each episode 😉 I’ll be doing Team Ripper and Team Sixth Sense recaps, so my coverage will be more well-rounded this season. There’ll also be more focus on Jeremy, which I know will make you happy!

Yay! Another TCer! As my friend Cath from Caroline Forbes-The Vampire Diaries Tumblr said to someone, I love you like Caroline likes jumping on top of naked Tyler!
We are going to have a field day with all of the squeeing we’ll be doing once September hits. As soon as I saw that promo, I knew it was high time to put out a spoiler edition – #shirtlesstyler and #lingeriecaroline (TM Paloma) call to me with a siren song.
After that stupid triangle comment from KW, I think we all needed this promo 😉 I for one am foot loose and fancy free and feeling completely positive. I think this cements that Matt’s role will be minimal at best, and we’ll get the focus on TC, a welcome breather from full on triangulation.
Can’t wait to chat all things TC this season!

Such a fun post, Cherie! 🙂 I loved all your speculation polls. You really do have Caroline’s optimistic, yet slightly snarky, sense of humor down to a tee. I wouldn’t be surprised if she ended up making at least one of the remarks you suggested here.
If Delena is destined to be a SLOW BURN this season, it’s REALLY nice to know that at least ONE of TVD’s sexiest couples is on the fast track to sex! 🙂
As for the Coed Naked Forwood Bed Humping, I do suspect that this is a fantasy or sex dream of Tyler’s. Why? I don’t think in REAL LIFE Tyler would be quite so . . . passive, while the woman of his dreams stood before him in lingerie, ready and willing to jump his bones. I mean, he’s not an alpha werewolf for nothing, right? 😉 Typically wet dreams, both on TV and in real life, tend to involve the dreamer being seduced, by someone who’s willing to do all the work, as Caroline seems to be with Tyler here.
Of course, it would be REALLY interesting, if the dream was Caroline’s. Talk about bucking stereotypes!
By the way, did anyone catch what movie poster was above Tyler’s bed? He strikes me as a guy who digs Goodfellas, Reservoir Dogs, Scarface and the Godfather, don’t you think? 🙂 Of course, knowing Kevin Williamson, the poster is probably something ironically wolfy. 🙂

It is a fun time to be a TCer right now – fandom has completely flipped out over that split second of footage, and we have dissected and analysed that morsel to a crazy degree. Imagine what we’ll all be like when Forwood… and Delena… have their signature sex scenes.
I’m not so surprised that TC are having sex in the premiere if only because Kevin and Julie probably want to include a major sex scene in every season premiere. With Delena as the slow burn, Forwood were the other couple to depend on for some flaming hot action 😉 LOL at Coed Naked Forwood Bed Humping, a KJewls TM that I suspect will find its way into a Spidey recap of the premiere 😉
You know, fandom have been positing everything from Tyler being in pain to Tyler being tense because the way the sex is going down is not how he wants (as a FWB, no strings attached arrangement that goes against the way he feels for Caroline). Poor Michael Trevino if it just turns out that this is his best Tyler sex face!
It WOULD be steamy if it turns out to be a dream of Caroline’s – I like the thought of our girl Caro knowing what she wants and going after it like a vampire Tigger! I can’t quite make out the movie poster, but I’m looking forward to finally seeing Tyler’s room and analysing the hell out of it. I remember LOLing at his laptop not even have a picture as a screensave or backdrop and calling shenanigans since you think he’d have some playboy bunny plastered across it. So, yeah, I’m curious to see what type of Tyler they’ll try to convey through his room. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was something that linked in with his artistic leanings, if Kevin Williamson doesn’t do the irony thing.

Regarding the laptop without any sort of Tyler-esque wallpaper/screensaver: I always thought it was the Forbes family computer they were using to watch the video Mason made of his transformation. They ARE watching it at Caroline’s house, after all. I can totally see Liz Forbes as someone who wouldn’t bother changing the factory set wallpaper/screesaver on her computer.

ARGH!!! I’m getting all distracted from my story after seeing the 3×01 promo. All I’ve been doing is scouring the internet for anything in relation to the T/C nanosecond we’ve been shown. And I NEED to finish it because of the vow I made: I’m not allowed to watch TVD’s S3 until I finish the fic. And after seeing that promo, OMG I AM IN PANIC MODE BECAUSE I REALLY AM AFRAID I WON’T FINISH BY SEPTEMBER 15TH AND I NEEEEEED THAT EPISODE IN MY LIFE. *cries*
Also, being exposed to new T/C stuff has made my imagination run wild(er) and I now have another story idea floating around in my head thanks to all the speculation regarding shirtless!Tyler, lingerie!Caroline, and that big bed. It’s already bad enough I have yet another T/C fic waiting in the wings. I really, really want to write it because it’s quite dark with a bit of a twist ending and I want to see if I can pull it off.
See? This is why I was laying low and staying away from most of the T/C fandom. Twitter has been the only exception. Fandom isn’t just a problem because it’s a distraction and takes away from the time and focus I should be giving my fic, it (the spec/spoilers/general T/C talk) also ends up burrowing into my brain and coming up with new things to add to The Fic That Will Never Be Finished. (It’s now 24,700 words. WTF?! This was only supposed to be around 10,000 words max. I think it may actually reach 30,000. Kill. Me. Now. Ugh. My brain really needs to stop with the plot bunnies! If only I could get Caroline to snack on them or something.)

I was hoping seeing that promo might inspire a little fan fiction appendum from you. Paloma, my advice if for you to go to Gen or Cath’s blogs and stare at shirtless!Tyler and lingerie!Caroline anytime you have a moment of weakness or writer’s block in terms of finishin up. If the sight of Trevino abs and our Vampire Barbie finally getting some with a guy who deserves her doesn’t get your creative juices flowing, I suspect nothing will 😉
The T/C sex!nanosecond has received so much in depth discussion and debate, it’s pretty incredible. The context of the sexual encounter, Tyler’s ambiguous posture, the development of Forwood up until now… it all adds up to a tantalising snippet in promo time, not even so much for the sex but because of the open-ended possibilities of what it could all mean, whether dream or reality. So, honestly, I say ride that fan fiction horse while the canon eventuation of the scenario comes into play. I need the season premiere in my life right now, and the opportunity to shriek via liveblog to the masses, is all I’m saying. No one in my RL quite gets the intensity of love some of us have for these characters, so I can’t quite enjoy the episode in the same way with them that I can you guys.
Heh. I think all members of fandoms are a little crazy, I say, let’s embrace the rabidness! Feel free to come freak out on this blog about anything, anytime. It’s the best outlet, because all of us “get it” (insert Tyler wink here).
I’m impressed you can stay away from fandom at large. Part of what I adore so much about The Vampire Diaries is just experience the community of fandom – I love reading reactions to new promos and speculations as much as the actual content of episodes themselves. Here is one way that I think fandom could benefit your writing – the character insight some members of fandom have could help you write compelling character arcs. I guess you just have to be selective about quality fandom sources.

Where do I even begin? (This might be a little rambly, I’m sure you understand lol). So the day the promo is released I decided to take my lunch break an hour later than I usually do, giving my earlier hour to my co-worker. I make my way home and after eating lunch hop online to check my various sites. I come across, “The Vampire Diaries Season 3 Promo,” and immediately click on it. I full on fangirled like there was no tomorrow. For weeks as new BTS photos and spoilers were being posted I was at work and had to fan-girl internally much to my heart’s dismay. Not this time! I jumped out of my chair, yelled OH SWEET JESUS, screamed and flailed. My brother came rushing in and with a WTF look on his face, saw the promo and rolled his eyes. I regret NOTHING. Welcome back Trevino torso porn indeed. Good guh. *Throws confetti in the air*
Side note: That cookie…I need it in my life.
I’m excited to see Caroline go back into her party-planner-mode this season. It’s been so long since we’ve seen any of these characters have a normal teenaged life, I’m for one looking forward to the party.
As someone who crack-shipped TC in S1, what I loved most about them in S2 was their friendship. I loved the fact that if something romantic were to happen between these two it would have stemmed from a deep connection as friends rather than come from a physical attraction to one another. So seeing those BTS photos of them enjoying lunch together had me over the moon. Add the bonus!Jeremy equipped in those wonderful Mystic Grill shirts and I was a puddle. I really hope that Tyler and Jeremy’s semi-friendship gets more attention his season as well. I would absolutely LOVE for Jeremy to hint on Tyler’s feelings for Caroline at some point.
Now that I’m on the topic of Jeremy, his storyline is something I’m also very excited for. I heard that his will overlap with Matt’s s/l this season as well, but I’m more interested in seeing interaction between Jeremy/Vicki/Tyler to be completely honest with you. When we first met Vicki and Tyler they were harsh characters. Damaged with more issues than Cosmo. Vicki didn’t have a chance to grow, change and redeem herself before she was killed, but Tyler has had such a huge journey since her I want to see those two have some closure. Tyler is not he same jerk he used to be and I believe that his experiences since Vicki have made him take a hard look at his life. Even before he triggered his curse, Tyler already voice his need to change who he was into someone he could live with. Not wanting to be that terrible person he was seeing himself become. If I can get one Tyler and Vicki scene I’ll be happy.
Now here’s the bedroom speculation. So I may or may have not watched that half second clip of Caroline jumping on Tyler a few times over the last couple of days. Maybe just two or three times. Okay it’s a ridiculous number and there has been lots of rewinding and pausing lol. So we know that there is a scene in the Lockwood Manor at one point in 3×01. So I assumed at first that it was Tyler’s room. Then after further inspection of that scene I’m pretty sure there is a duck lamp on the bedside table, I don’t see Ty being the duck lamp type of guy lol. So I posted that maybe it was Caroline’s room in 12_12_12’s spoiler spec post and a commenter said that it wasn’t and that it looked like a staircase banister behind Caroline. Paloma also confirmed that it was not Caroline’s room. So, where are they? Maybe a spare room? Or maybe Tyler is indeed a duck lamp kinda guy (If so then I’m going to track a duck lamp down for myself lol). There is that scene in the earlier promo where we see Tyler saying Hi/Hey to someone and I assumed he was in his house and we have to meet urges girl eventually right? I’m so confused about who’s bedroom that is and just how many scenes we are going get with these two my head hurts lol. Moving on!
I think my love for Trevino has well been established by now. I adore his interviews with Carina MacKenzie. Trevino’s smile will always give away or hint to something he’s not suppose to spoil. I noticed that with telling looks and smiles he exchanged with Candice at the Nimes convention after he said the S3 premiere would be, “Goooooood.” I felt it in my heart that there would be some sort of TC lovin’ lol. I’m glad that TC will touch on being bb!supes this season again. The comparisons they shared with each other in “Rose” was and is one of my favorite TC moments.
The whole horny line has me insanely giddy with anticipation. The fact that Tyler can share this incredibly private piece of information with Caroline speaks volumes on how close these two have become. The trust between them was broken and I see this as a good sign that they are beginning to trust each other once again.
Dream or reality? I could take either or at this point. A big part of me is leaning towards a dream sequence, but whose? I would like for it to be Caroline’s just for the fact that she thinks of Tyler in that way and we have yet to hear what exactly her feelings are for one Mr. Lockwood (God of the eyesex). Of course this could be Tyler’s dream as well. Trevino mentioned in his TCA interview with Carina that Tyler, “would be snapping and he’s going to want some,” so that leads me to believe that maybe he’s the one dreaming about Caroline. In any case, the next day awkwardness from either one of them or both would be absolutely splendid. Especially if it is indeed Caroline’s dream and it also affects Tyler.
If it is indeed reality then YIPPEE!! I am concerned though that this might be rushing the relationship between TC. I am big fan of the slow burn, but I can understand their urges multiplied by their supernatural identities overwhelming them. Will they will go through with it is a whole other question. Like you, I can see Tyler putting a stop to it before it goes to far. Not wanting to use Caroline for his own selfish needs because he does feel so strongly for her. Then again, they could be interrupted with the door left wide open and all. By whom though? Hmmm….Carol? Trevino did mention about their families becoming more involved in 3×02 which excites me to no end. The actress who portray Liz and Carol have such wonderful chemistry and play so well off each other I can’t wait to see these two Mama’s in action.
You touched on the possibility of there being a FWB type of situation between TC. I loved this so much, “What about sex between friends who deeply care about each other, where one is secretly in love with the other, but the other isn’t quite there yet or aware of their feelings completely?” I rubbed my heart and thought that this speculation might be my favorite. Giving into those urges, but it being more to one than the other. This could cause some serious angst down the road and I for one just live for the angst.
I know I mentioned this to you on tumblr and I’ve voiced it many times to Cath about how much I want to see Tyler’s eyes glow when he’s turned on, just for my own selfish reasons.
As for urges girl, I don’t want to see her used as some petty plot device, so I refuse to comment otherwise because I see it going down exactly like that. Bleh and boo.
Then there is Matty. My precious Matty. What will happen to him and where does he fit in the TC relationship? I’m not going to speculate on anything concerning him, because honestly I have no idea what to think. I’m going to let the writers do their job on this one and take it as it comes. As for Dark!Matt, I was shocked to see that you think I don’t like him? On the contrary I do like Dark!Matt and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of him. What I didn’t want was to see him go completely dark side. I want to see Matt struggle and make some bad decisions that go farther than just being a douche when it comes to Caroline. I find Zach Roerig does a phenomenal job when he’s being blatantly harsh like in Masquerade. The jerkiness just oozed out of him and I loved it. I think he performs much better with that aspect of Matt’s personality than playing the good guy angle all the time. As much as like the bad boy coming out of him, what I hope is that he can somehow repair his broken relationships with Caroline as well as Tyler. You know how much I love the bff bromance of him and Tyler. But when Matt was conspiring with Liz I was just eating it up. I wouldn’t mind him seeing him become an active member of The Council later on. With the arrival of a new hunter in the midst, maybe Matt can learn a thing or two?
Will we see Caroline finally have her moment and show some legit anger towards Matt for his betrayal? I hope so. Caroline didn’t spare Tyler from reproach when he turned his back on her, but we never saw her confront Matt. Which bothers me to this day. It again goes to show the difference in how she is around Matt and Tyler. Matt is her first love and she’s forever seeing him through rose colored glasses, but vampire Barbie is growing and I hope one day she can finally realize that Matt isn’t the golden boy she so desperately needs to have in her life. I want to see how much that has changed after spending more time with Tyler. So it will be telling in her scene with Matt at Elena’s party. I hope that it’s Caroline that finally puts her foot down and lets him have and that is the reason why the meeting doesn’t go well, but a part of me thinks it will be Caroline offering the olive branch. If that’s the case I can see the aftermath of that encounter being one of the motives/reasons why she hooks up with Tyler. Her emotions are all over the place, add her urges and one Tyler Lockwood and the outcome could be a loss of control in the sexy time kind of way. She is emotional and Tyler tries to comfort the girl he loves as a friend and she’s the one who initiates the whole thing. Another reason for Tyler to put a stop to their hookup because he doesn’t want to take advantage of her current state. Yay or nay?

Aww, Gen, so glad the Tyler/Caroline Kennedy sex moment made you feel happy happy joy joy too! I am not ashamed to admit that seeing that.2 second clip was enough to make my day. We love our bbs, we’ve experienced the highs and lows with them, recapped their adventures, speculated and analysed their motivations for doing things, so I for one am milking the sexy sweetness for all that I’m worth. Your brother has the reaction my family (apart from my dad, weirdly, since he thinks my blogging is cool!) does whenever I chat TC. They’re the ones missing out! My first through when I saw the GIFs on your Tumblr was, “Damn the stupid Australian time difference when breaking news like this happens”.
That cookie deserves to be put in a special glass case, with a rainbow spotlight shone upon it, so incredible it is in its amazingness.
I’m excited to see Caroline go back into party-planner mode because I’m curious to see how Tyler reacts to her control freakiness – I bet he’ll find it endearing! I also am hoping this is the beginning of an individual arc for Caroline coming to terms with what being a vampire means in the long term, because as much as she might try to pretend everything is the same, it never will be again. I’m even excited about the friendship scene with Elena, where we see the good side of Caroline’s pushiness – she might be holding a party Elena doesn’t really want to have, but she’s doing it because she can’t bear to see her friend feeling so lost and heartbroken.
I’d love to have TC talk about what they used to think of each other compared with their feelings now. I actually think Tyler had grudging respect for her, and if nothing else, Caroline could relate to Tyler’s fun loving partier side. It’s interesting how Caroline’s friendship was Matt was functional, but as soon as they started dating, he treated her like dirt, as though she were beneath him as a girlfriend. Caroline just really needs someone in her life that appreciates all aspects of her, romantic and otherwise, and doesn’t think less of aspects of her personality but just enjoys the whole package. Tyler “you’ve gotta take the good with the bad” Lockwood just fits the bill!
I think Stefan is appreciating her in a similar way as a friend, and while I love Paul Wesley and Candice Accola’s chemistry, I would never believe a relationship between these two vamps unless Stefan’s early treatment of her is addressed. The fact that he knew Damon was hurting/compelling Caroline and didn’t think to slip her vervaine until he needed to use her as a vervaine vehicle to take Damon down (when he tricked Damon into drinking a “spiked” Caroline) was bad enough. That he left Caroline on the grass in front of the Lockwood mansion in the aftermath, confused and disoriented, was also a dick move. Plus, he was aware that Caroline was being emotionally blackmailed by Katherine, immediately after being turned and at her most vulnerable and scared, and couldn’t think of another option than using her as a spy for the sake of him and Elena? No character is perfect on this show, but at least Caroline called Tyler on what he did wrong in Daddy Issues. Even when she explained she could never hate him, she didn’t say, “Oh it doesn’t matter” it was more a case of, “What you did sucked, but I forgive you anyway”.
The main thing I’m torn on with TC is whether there should have been more fallout from Daddy Issues/Crying Wolf than Tyler leaving. On the one hand, Caroline was at fault in the situation too, and I like that our two biting babies were able to reflect on their own and be in a forgiving space when they were reunited. On the other hand, I feel like the writers could have tapped an episode two or more of angst before Tyler left. But then, I like that this pairing doesn’t have to approve anything to one another. See how I slingshot around? I’m really hoping that they talk in depth about everything that happened between them, though I’ll be surprised if the writers don’t just sweep it under the carpet. My main complaint with The Vampire Diaries is that these fantastic dramatic situations can be built up, only for the payoff not to be leveraged as much as they could.
Jeremy’s a perceptive guy, and I bet that he will pick up on the vibes between Tyler/Caroline. I’m curious to see whether his reaction is positive or cautious – after all, he is aware that vampires and werewolves are warring species, and from where he sits that it is doubtful this will end well. I’d love him to be a TC crackshipper while everyone else is all upset about them being together – we need one Team Forwood Unicorn person on the show, and Jeremy isn’t afraid to go off on his own and have his own point of view. If he is shown wearing the Mystic Grill shirt frequently in Tyler’s presence, so be it ;).
I was talking to stainofmylove, and she made the interesting point that Tyler was almost acting the way his father did with his mother, as he did with Vicki. I really, really want Tyler to make a conscious decision to break out of the negative patterns his father set as an example – his experiences as a bb wolf have forced him to take a good long hard look at himself, and I think his treatment of Vicki will be a good barometer for how much he has or has not changed with women other than Caroline. It’s canon that he was already regretful of his treatment of Vicki. God know how he’d be able to make it up to her, but I would love if he explained to Vicki that she WAS worthy, that he wasn’t worthy of HER at that point in his life. Vicki and Tyler might have more in common than you would think if/when they interact. Tyler has a similar animosity towards the Salvatores that Vicki must have, considering Damon turned her and Stefan killed her. Maybe ghost!Vicki will try to lure Tyler into damaging his relationship with Caroline by tweaking situations so that his anti-Salvatore stance if brought to the fore.
I’m sure Caroline’s relationship with the Salvatores will be an ongoing source of tension with Tyler. She mentored Tyler in a pay it forward for what Stefan did for her, but I doubt Tyler will be forgiving them for the Mason heart pull anytime soon. Heck, I’m still a little sensitive about it. In terms of Caroline’s relationship with Stefan, I really hope that she acts as the modern day Lexi who helps bring him back from the brink – that would be more interesting storytelling I think that Elena’s love conquering all – especially as recent interviews with Paul Wesley indicate that Stefan’s love for Elena remains intact. So, it would be unconvincing for me if seeing Elena was enough to bring him back. Catching Delena making out, cue jealousy, on the other hand, is fully plausible to me!
I wonder if Stefan, the “Good Vampire’s” behaviour will make Caroline look inward at her vampire nature. She is full of goodness but she has murdered, a fact that remains true even with mitigating circumstances, and her constant urge to kill would surely fill her with fear – if STEFAN can go off the bandwagon, what if she will give over to her vampiric impulses too? Maybe seeing Ripper!Stefan in action will cause her to draw back from Tyler for a while, in the “push and pull” Plec described of not everyone wanting them to be together, including themselves, but nevertheless still being unable to fight their connection.
The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced it is a FWB scenario that Tyler can’t follow through on. After reading Dogtown’s description of Tyler’s posture. He is lying down on the bed, already stripped down, like he has been there waiting for her rather than Caroline pushing him backwards on the bed and stripping his clothes off as she goes. Although he reacts instinctively when she touches him, it’s not like he is actively and aggressively pulling her in. It would be a BIG DEAL for Tyler, who was prepared to continue making out with Thing Two, even when she revealed that she liked Matt, who has probably only ever had casual sex, to pull back. If the writers go this path, I hope they show the potential ramifications of Caroline being rejected, or Tyler knowing this is a sore spot for her and being sensitive about the whole situation. If it is a FWB, I would hate it if Tyler went through with it without at least admitting his feelings first and turning it into something else, but if that happens, I could see him once and for all realising how unhealthy meaningless sex can be.
I could also just picture a non-FWB scenario where hormones just take them over, and Caroline brushing off the implications in the morning, with Tyler following suit. “What about sex between friends who deeply care about each other, where one is secretly in love with the other, but the other isn’t quite there yet or aware of their feelings completely?” – this would be the scenario that I hope happens if the writers go down this path. OMG THE ANGST, I NEED IT IN MY LIFE LIKE RIGHT NOW, GEN!
I think it’s in Tyler’s room or a spare room in the Lockwood mansion, if only because the TWoP spoiler person working on the show says that TC share a scene there. No one really strikes me as a duck lamp person in that family, so this detail is hilarious to me. Well, ducks make me think of rubber duckies, which make me think of Sookie/Eric shower scenes, so…
I love watching Candice and Michael’s interviews for different reasons. Candice is so cute and personable, but I love watching her handle the media with a finesse that would do a politician proud. But every now and then, you just need someone to stop going in circles and just reveal a potentially spoilery tid bit that doesn’t necessarily give anything away but strongly hints at what is to come. Me? If I could read an episode script beforehand, I would. I don’t need surprises to be happy, as speculating is something I thoroughly enjoy. Even when some of the big twists on TVD occurred that I knew about, I still enjoyed them. So, spoilery Trevino is spoilery makes me very happy!
Your love of Trevino has been VERY well established. One of my friends was like, “wow, you probably dig this guy more than any other fan” after reading my blog and I said, “Nope, he’s someone else’s imaginary husband, I am just an appreciator!”
I cannot WAIT to hear Trevino’s delivery on the horny line. Aside from the de-clothing, it is the single thing I am most looking forward to, plus Caroline’s answer.
So yeah, I mentioned above that I kind of wanted more angst last season and more of a slow burn in my wishlist. I guess it depends on the fallout of the dream/reality sex scene. Hooking up could make things awkward for a little while before they become an official couple. Even if they do Go There, I’m content that they have had more build up than most of couples, aside from Delena, on the show. I just hope that we still get the Show Don’t Tell treatment of them even when they DO get together. The writers haven’t let me down yet, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
Caroline hasn’t explicity revealed her feelings, but implicitly I think she knows there is more there. Her saying, “We can’t go there, Tyler”, implies that she knows there was a real possibility of their relationship developing into something more. I do think though that this has gotten lost in the Daddy Issues/Matt World/Mother Issues drama.
With regards to Dark!Matt, I think I can vaguely remember saying on your Tumblr that I would love Matt to go dark and you weren’t as keen on the idea? Although, I can understand you being reluctant about an un-compelled Matt going dark versus just appreciating the hot specimen that was Zach Roerig in Masquerade. 😉
Caroline feeling legit anger towards Matt would make me feel so happy, you have no idea. It would be such a big step for her character to let go of her desire to be the Perfect Golden Girl for him. Ironically, this would probably make Matt respect her in a way that I feel he never has.

The fandom is certainly going crazy with all of our theories about Tyler being in pain vs whether it’s a dream to the decor of Tyler’s room (duck lamps).
So, my response:
I have to say it brightened by day. Friday I was waiting in the hospital for my mom to get out of surgery and I checked FF and saw the promo and I swear if there hadn’t been people in the waiting room with me, I would have done my Tyler-and-Caroline-are-finally-getting-in-on dance.
I was SO excited. I need more. Extended promo, where for art thou?
I think we’re so desperate for info that we’re taking that .2 second of promo very seriously. To me Tyler looks like he’s in ahem, anticipation of what’s to come, and not necessarily pain. He might be thinking “Oh my god. Thiis IS really happening.”
Why the door is open, most likely Carol isn’t home and they’re too busy getting busy to close it.
I don’t know why Tyler’s on the bed the way he is, but it’s possible Caroline threw him down, like a Jungle Cat (TM Carina).
I don’t think it’s a dream, only because of the hints we’ve gotten. Michael from the Nimes convention saying 301 was “gooood” and the very possible more kissing and agressiveness, Julie’s “explode out of the friend zone” and “inevitable naked action” not to mention Carina’s interview with Michael when he laughed during the truth game about Caroline and Tyler making out during the premiere, and Candice’s quote about “moments leading to possibilities.”
It seems to be that they are going to GO THERE, so why waste the sex on a dream if they’re going to do it anyway?
I know there’s been a lot of talk about a slow burn, but remember, they want to start that R&J arc, and what fun would it be if they were just friends?
My take is they will sleep together in 301 and 302 begins the R&J arc, and Tyler and Caroline will be together from that point on.
Besides, think of all the goodness. Caroline and Tyler arguing because he won’t let her come with him on full moons now that they’re actually TOGETHER? Oh my, my heart has melted.
I don’t think they’re being rushed. TVD isn’t a show to take things slow. SE had their epic talk in episode 1, kissed in episode 2, and were doing the deed by episode 10. That’s eight episodes. We’ve gotten more than eight episodes of build up, so I’m more than satisfied.
Again, I don’t think it will be a FWB situation. I think Caroline will genuinely realize that she has feelings for Tyler, between her conversation with Elena about letting life pass by, the “unfriendly” encounter with Matt, and her earlier hanging out with Tyler, she’ll realize that she doesn’t want to not take advantage of these possibilities, and will go to Tyler with that revelation.
I was discussing whether Tyler and Caroline would have “the talk” or if we’d just see them evolve as a couple, and I’m thinking it’s the latter. Tyler and Caro are so comfortable being with each other that I don’t think the aftermath of the Sex will be something that comes in between them, and we’ll see them easily slip into couples mode.
That’s just my take 🙂

You guys are just spoiling me with your amazing comments! It’s pretty amazing how much detail we’ve been able to parse from the .2 seconds of footage on show. I guess that’s a testament to the complexity of the Forwood relationship that has been drawn, Trevino’s ambiguous sex faces and the intriguing blocking and postures of our two bbs in the shot. It is framed in such an interesting way that it is hard to know whether the sex, real or dream, is spontaneous or FWB-planned. As for the duck lamps (nice eyes, Gen!), this is either a really esoteric link to Tyler’s arty side, or his mother decorated his room.

My ideal scenario would be them being overcome by love and desire in the heat of the moment, and whether they become a full fledged couple straight away or there is some awkwardness/they initially try to brush it off as supernatural urges, it will be delicious because one way or another, the writers are going to Go There. Now that we are through the worst of Matt World, I can be patient. I don’t think it is a dream, but I’m unsure of the particulars of the situation. Even if it IS a dream, the bright side is that we will have more TC action to gif and enjoy. If Michael’s “gooooood” gives away that the sex is real AND minus any associated angst, I’m officially demanding he do more interviews to give away juicy spoilers!

I don’t blame Caroline for being too distracted by the hotness of Tyler!torso to care about a little thing like a door being wide open, or vice versa since we know how much Tyler loves our favourite blonde. Just writers, if you have them get it on at the party and have cock!block Matt Donovan interrupt the pair, because he followed them both with the intention to work their friendship issues out or something, I will not be happy.
It would be hilarious if Tyler, the alpha male, were thrown against the bird, then Caroline stripped off supervast vamp-style and pounched on him. Nice reversion of the genders there!
I agree with you about the slow burn thing. I guess what I want is interesting angst, whether they are friends or a couple, more so than just a protracted mating game. Since, as you mentioned in your Luke/Lorelai post, the writers can hold off for too long, and by that point ruin the great potential couple they had developed. Honestly, we’ve had two season of build up (since I think even season one is fairly rich with individual and Forwood development if you look closely – they were obvs setting TC up in the last few episodes), so I won’t mind them hooking up. The caveat for me being that I really, really want them to address the trust issues they have and what went down in the aftermath of Tyler discovering Caroline’s lies. I really don’t want the Mason thing just swept under the carpet.
God, the though of them dealing with the full moon issue post-coupling, plus Tyler being part of a serious relationship has me so excited, you have no idea. Most of all, I look forward to Caroline being in the thick of things hopefully, with her connection to the R&J storyline PLUS the Salvatores, and staying far, far away from Matt.

Yeah, in the beginning I was all slow burn, slow burn, but I hate when writers take too long to put couples together. I don’t see the big deal in them being a couple by 302. Why not? Weren’t Stefan and Elena together by 1×03? And they want the R&J story, and what good would that be if they were just friends. It’s inevitable that they will be together, it’s just a question of when. I can’t see them postponing it too long, and the minute those interviews came out about how long it would take them to break out of the Very Special Friendship Bubble, I knew it would NOT be very long. I want them to address issues as well, but I have a feeling they’ll just ease into being a couple, because as the trend with Forwood has gone, they show rather than tell. I do want ILY’s though like a kid on Santa’s lap.

Naked Trevino would have curative powers no doubt, though potential side effects of this medicine would be a racing heart, dizziness, tendency to lapse into sexy daydreams.
Oh my goodness, I could picture Carol and Emily (once Carol gets over her anti-vampire thing) joining forces to move a gazebo to fit in a sixteen piece orchestra when the plan a wedding for Tyler/Caroline.
I remember someone on TWoP actually mentioned their ideal Grandma Lockwood would be Emily Gilmore, so maybe Grandma Lockwood is the steel maiden forcing Tyler to keep a duck lamp in his room?
Matt World really does sound like a bizarro world disneyland where the baby Jesus cries incessantly. Whether Forwood coupling occurs immediately or not (I’m happy either way, since awkwardness with nice subtext, rather than the kind Matt/Caroline had the “morning after” their cuddling session, could be delicious when it comes to TC), DNW Matt World in any way, shape or form. Once they’ve gone over the tipping point for real, I don’t see them ever just being able to be purely friends.
I don’t think we’ll get too many more TC hints from the sex scene in the extended promo. If we’re lucky, we MIGHT get some earlier TC flirting action. As long as we get plenty of Ripper!Stefan, I don’t mind too much. I quite like the main love triangle, so long as the Damon/Stefan relationship is the apex. When Paul Wesley was interviewed and said that Stefan would still be lost in love with Elena through his ripper haze I just facepalmed myself. It would be FAR more interesting IMO if the sanctity of his relationship with Elena was put into question with hooking up with Katherine. Elena would then have the dilemma of taking him back after the terrible things he’s done, plus a betrayal that is the supernatural equivalent of saying that, “I got drunk and hooked up with an ex”. That one rarely ever flies in my world 😉
I wonder if wolfed out Tyler will ever recognise Caroline when he is transformed, assuming Caroline manages to stay with him during full moons (which she will insist on doing). Also, I’m hoping for a re-appearance by his spandex pants. Sept 15, come to me lover!
