SPOILER WHORE Got Forwood – Tyler & Caroline Speculation – The House Guest – Vampire Diaries

Well, guys, there was no Got Forwood recap last week, because, well there was no Caroline OR Tyler to be had.

The positive side is that there was no Caratt, making me evilly happy about all the pissed off Matt bunnies out there.

I hate everything

But no Caroline meant no insight into her reaction to Tyler’s departure, or for that matter, the way Matt chooses to deal with the information Tyler gave him before he left, namely that he had fallen for Caroline.

So, even though I have my reservations about entering Matt World, I admit there are a few things that intrigue me enough to be willing to venture there.

Last episode, we had a token mention from Damon about Tyler running away and Carol Lockwood being hysterical. There are a few things we can take away from that. One, Tyler is alienated enough from his mother, or was so desperate to high tail it outta Mystic Falls, that he couldn’t even be bothered to construct a decent cover story for leaving.

Two, the Salvatores are happy about the werewolves leaving, which means that one day the wolves will be back to bite them in the ass (maybe even literally! WOO HOO, I might meet Damon!Ass), because our favourite anti-heroes can’t be happy for too long.

Three, based on Carol’s frantic state, and the closeness of Matt to Tyler, Caroline and Matt will probably have to deal with Tyler’s swift exit on screen, because surely Carol would turn to his friends to try to find out where he might have gone.

One thing about Matt World I am curious about is how much Caratt will be based on lies and deception. Both Caroline and Matt know something about Tyler’s state of mind they might be unwilling to divulge to the other.

Matt, who was already suspicious about the sparks between Tyler and Caroline, might keep Tyler’s confession of love for Caroline to himself (surely to be revealed at a critical moment ;)).

Baby vamp Caroline, of course, can’t share with still-human Matt the fact that baby were Tyler’s supernatural identity is part of the reason behind his departure from Mystic Falls, because after all she has to keep the human Matt in the dark about her involvement in the local supe community, for the sake of his safety.

Caroline admitted to Tyler in an earlier episode that it was “better this way” for Matt to stay on the periphery of her life. Tyler understood where she was coming from, saying “it’s not really fair to be with someone if you can’t be honest with them”.

It’s not really fair to be with someone and not really let them know who you are. I get it. [2x10] - tyler-and-caroline fan art

Although Caroline has gradually gotten better control of her vampiric urges, the potential danger she brings into Matt’s life that he doesn’t know about and doesn’t deserve is just as relevant as ever.

But in a recent spoilery interview Carina from Zap2It did with Candice Accola and Zach Roerig indicates that Matt’s perpetual obliviousness to the anvilicious supernatural goings-on might change soon.

It’s definitely time for some honesty around here. “Matt’s going to get some answers about everything that’s going on around him,” Zach says. “I can’t tell you what answers, exactly, but some things are going to come to light. Finally.”

Will Matt end Season 2 knowing that Caroline is a vampire? “I think that if Matt and Caroline keep going down this road they’re on, this more honest, loving relationship, then yeah, he’s going to have to find out sometime soon. That’s my hope, anyway.”

“You have to remember,” Candice adds, “Caroline is caught in a web of lies that she didn’t necessarily create. She’s not only keeping her own secret, but she’s keeping Stefan’s secrets, and Damon’s secrets, and Tyler’s secrets. There are lives on the line. Even if Matt thinks she’s coming clean about certain lies, she’s barely scratching the surface of what he doesn’t know about the town.”

Colour me intrigued. What do you think Matt is going to find out?

Zach also explains that MATT might be the one who brings Tyler back to Mystic Falls.

At least Tyler has one friend in Mystic Falls. “When Matt realizes that Tyler’s gone, he sort of looks at that last conversation that they had and realizes that Tyler wasn’t just giving him advice about Caroline, but he was asking for help,” Zach says. “I think, ideally, Matt would go looking for Tyler, definitely. That’s his best friend.”

I tell you what, guys, if he does that, he can have a Vampire Diaries Sensory Overload post dedicated all to him that week if this is the case!

Now, onto The House Guest (S02E16) specifically. Here is the episode synopsis:

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Series “The House Guest” Season 2 Episode 16 – A NIGHT OF CONFESSIONS – Katherine’s (Nina Dobrev) mind games are getting on everyone’s nerves, but Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) realize that her knowledge of Mystic Falls history will help them stay alive. Frustrated with her relationship with Matt (Zach Roerig), Caroline (Candice Accola) finds a new way to get his attention. Alaric (Matt Davis) makes a surprising confession to Jenna (Sara Canning), and Katherine makes a different kind of confession to Damon. Stefan and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) try to convince Jonas (guest star Randy Goodwin) and Luka (guest star Bryton James) that they should all be working together, but Jonas’ lack of trust leads to a violent and fiery confrontation. Steven R. McQueen also stars. Michael Katleman directed the episode written by Caroline Dries

Promo pictures have shown that the way she gets Matt’s attention is by serenading him in the Mystic Grill.

Here are a couple of awesome TC-oriented suggestions I’ve seen floating around the internet:

I’m kinda hoping we get a sweet ditty from real-life singer Candice Accola’s debut album.

One thing’s for sure, it looks like the song will do the trick, and turn Matt’s gassy infant frown…

Hm, interesting, who knows, maybe you will be a Caratt fan soon. 😉

  • André

What, still not analyzed the latest episode? Come on you’re probably tipping your fingers bloody while I type this. 😉

LOL dude, I totally made an T/C/M edit using lyrics from Oranthi’s “Accordig To You.” LOL. Awesome.

The episode has already aired, so we now know that Matt does indeed know that Caroline is a vampire. My question is will that stay that way or will Caroline compel him to forget and sequentially go back to square one?

    • André

Hard to tell, I guess the whole vamp + chatty Caroline was quite shock for Matt and who knows how much he will be told, after all we know who was ultimately responsible for Vicky’s death.

      • Gen

I hope she doesn’t compel him in a panic and just lets him soak it in and give him time to digest it all.

        • André

We’ll see. Considering the death rate of the show one of the two could just as well be pushing up the daisies in the next episode.

          • Spidey Sense

You know, the producers are pretty flippant about killing off newbies, but the only real regular they have killed off is Vicki. I mean, I loved Anna, but she wasn’t part of the original core cast. It’ll be a big deal when one of those goes, so the writers need to be careful. The thing is, I would prefer characters I love to be put in perilous situations and escape unscathed (relatively) if done creatively, over the shock value of a death, which isn’t sustained beyond a couple of eps. Particularly on a show like this, where the pacing is so fast that characters barely have time to grieve.

            • André

That’s why I thing a slow episode might be better. Otherwise this will turn into a sort of clishee soap opera. At least something were they don’t have to face all sort of supernatural stuff.

        • Spidey Sense

So do I. I was pretty impressed with how quickly Matt put everything together. Who knows, he could be a real asset to Team Salvatore!

    • Spidey Sense

OMG, you did?? It is such a perfect song for describing that triangle.

If Caroline does compel him, I bet it is to tell him the truth in a more carefully constructed environment. I think after the whole Tyler thing, she is pretty keen to be honest from now on.

If she doesn’t compel him, I’m curious to see just how much she divulges, because as Candice Accola has said herself, Caroline might only scratch the surface of what is going on when telling Matt about being a vamp.
