Buffy Rewatch – What’s My Line Part I
Let’s talk about Drusilla, who Spike is attempting to revive to full health in this two parter. I’ll go into the plot more in Part II.
We’ve seen that she has certain extra-sensory abilities that haven’t been observed in other vampires, having the ability to sense and predict things… (“Don’t worry. Everything’s switching. Outside to inside. It makes her weak ” “Did my pet have a vision?…”It hums. I can hear it.”) And this probably endows her with a very unique perception of the world. Add that to all of the psychological damage that Angel inflicted + the influence of the demon and you have one complicated vampire.
Buffy Rewatch – The Dark Age
I thought I’d do something a little different for this review and do a stream of consciousness review.
Now, thoughts!
Buffy Rewatch – Halloween
This was one of my favorite early episodes of Buffy. I love how the show takes a concept that could have been just an opportunity for a comedy episode full of wacky hilarity – people being transformed into their Halloween costumes – and makes it into story full of revealing character moments. I think this is why it is one of my favorite episodes up to this point in the show.
Buffy Rewatch – Some Assembly Required
Some Assembly Required: This is not one of the reasons season 2 is my favorite. But, it has awesome Giles/Jenny development and Cordelia funtimes.
So in this episode, Giles and Miss Calendar go on a date. Or should I say Jenny? I don’t think she even mentioned her first name before, because that’s the first I’ve heard of it. It’s cute anyway, it suits her. Oh, and some stuff happened with a guy who resurrected his dead brother and went around trying to make a creepy Frankenstein’s monster girlfriend for him by cutting up dead girls. But, y’know, that’s kind of unimportant, I didn’t really pay attention to that.
Slayerfest 2014: Buffy Rewatch
Hey, guys. Miss me?
I have missed blogging and you all something fierce, but sometimes real life can get in the way of fangirling.
Finn Nelson is the new Pacey Witter… and other reasons why you need to join My Mad Fat Diary watching party
Pacey 2.0 you say? Those are fighting words in some circles.
Remember that time Pacey defended Joey’s honour when her mural was ruined? I sure do!
Yet watch My Mad Fat Diary series one along with me (it’s only six episodes long) and you’ll discover that this along with a multitude of other reasons make MMFD one of the best TV shows EVER. It filled the hole that Friday Night Lights left in me.
It is as rewatchable a show as I’ve ever come across. Regular readers of my blog know that I love to slice, dice and just generally dissect and overanalyze relationships from TV shows I adore. It’s the nature of fandom bases like WordPress, Tumblr and Livejournal to pick apart every little thing about a show, rewatching things again and again for new meanings and making speculation for future plotlines.
The monumental attention to detail in MMFD shows some tender loving care in everything from writing and acting to set design and soundtrack, and I’ll be spending the next few weeks recapping this show and breaking down all of those elements.
So why should you watch along with me? Check out my reasons below if you’re a newbie. And come along for the ride if you’re not so that you can fall in love with the show all over again!
Getting inspired – Rachel’s Challenge
“We need to… kick start a revolution. We need to get a chain reaction going here!”
– Eric Harris, Columbine Shooter
“I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same.”
– Rachel Scott, Columbine Victim
Who inspires you?
I’ve suffered the longest bout of writers block I’ve ever suffered, and thought how better to get back into the swing of things than to share the words of someone who inspires me, who has left an impact on me and planted seeds of thinking that have never entirely gone away.
I never met Rachel Scott, but I was inspired by the difference in these two statements, which were made in March of 1999 before the Columbine school shootings.
As her father said in an interview, it was like Rachel and Eric were laying down a double challenge to their entire generation.
